Your GDPR Rights
Last updated: January 1, 2025
Overview
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) gives individuals in the European Economic Area (EEA) strong rights over their personal data. This page explains your rights and how to exercise them when using SchengenAI.
Your Rights Under GDPR
Right to Access (Article 15)
You have the right to request a copy of any personal data we hold about you, along with information about how we process it, the purposes of processing, and any third parties we share it with.
Right to Rectification (Article 16)
If any data we hold about you is inaccurate or incomplete, you have the right to request that we correct it.
Right to Erasure — "Right to be Forgotten" (Article 17)
You can request that we delete your personal data when it is no longer necessary for the purposes it was collected, or if you withdraw consent and there is no other legal basis for processing.
Right to Data Portability (Article 20)
You have the right to receive personal data you have provided to us in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format, and to transfer that data to another controller.
Right to Object (Article 21)
You can object to processing of your personal data based on our legitimate interests. We will stop processing unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests.
Right to Restrict Processing (Article 18)
You can request that we limit how we use your data in certain circumstances — for example, while a dispute about accuracy is being resolved.
Right to Withdraw Consent (Article 7)
Where processing is based on your consent (e.g., analytics cookies), you can withdraw that consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. You can do this by declining cookies or clearing your browser storage.
Practical Note for SchengenAI Users
Because SchengenAI's calculator operates entirely in your browser and we do not collect or store trip dates or calculation results on our servers, most GDPR rights do not apply to calculator data — there simply is no personal data on our end to access, correct, or delete.
The data that may be held about you includes anonymized analytics data (if you consented) and standard server access logs. We can provide information about and/or delete this data upon request.
How to Exercise Your Rights
To make a GDPR request, email us at contact@schengenai.com with:
- Your full name
- The right you wish to exercise
- Any information that helps us identify your data (e.g., approximate date of visit, IP address if known)
We will respond within 30 days. For complex requests, we may extend this by a further 60 days, in which case we will notify you.
Right to Lodge a Complaint
If you believe we are processing your data unlawfully or have not adequately responded to your rights request, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. A list of EU data protection authorities is available at edpb.europa.eu.
