How the 90/180 Rule Works

The rule is rolling โ€” not calendar-based.

The Rolling Window

Every day, look back exactly 180 days. You may spend at most 90 of those days inside Schengen. The window moves forward daily โ€” never fixed to Jan 1.

Both Days Count

Your entry day and exit day both count. Monday to Wednesday = 3 days, not 2. Border officers check stamps going back 180 days.

27 Countries, One Clock

All Schengen members share one counter. A week in France + two in Germany = 21 days used, regardless of where you entered first.
